Dr. Hamidreza Khankeh, an Iranian scholar in Emergency and Disaster Health and Head of the Center for Research on Health in Disasters at the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, addressed the challenges facing health research in Iran during the Knowledge Translator forum and outlined the strategic priorities for bridging the gap between science and society. He emphasized that health research achieves its greatest impact when conducted in collaboration with key stakeholders, stating that the participation of patients, caregivers, policymakers, and the general public in research processes is not merely an option, but a scientific and ethical imperative. He also noted that the systematic involvement of patients and the public in Iran’s health research is still in its early stages and lacks a clear framework.

Dr. Samaneh Sazegar Nejad, a faculty member of the Department of Speech therapy at the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, explored the multifaceted nature of social cognition during the “Book Café” event and highlighted its profound significance in everyday communication, social functioning, and clinical intervention.

At the Book Café ceremony held in the Central Library of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Dr. Saeedeh Mehrkian, Head of the Central Library, announced the successful completion of a major book procurement initiative supported by a 500 million toman allocation from the Vice President for Research for the purchase of scientific resources.

Alzheimer’s disease is not simply a matter of memory loss. Dr. Peymaneh Shirinbayan, a faculty member at the Center for Aging Research of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, explained that this illness, as the most common form of dementia, brings with it anxiety, depression, and behavioral changes that deeply affect the emotional well-being and quality of life of both patients and their families.
