The brilliance of Salamand, the Iranian Journal of Aging, at the Scientific Festival of the Academy of Medical Sciences

The Editor-in-Chief of Salmand: Iranian Journal of Ageing, Dr. Yadollah Abolfathi Momtaz, who is also a faculty member of the Department of Ageing at the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, announced the journal’s distinguished achievement at the Scientific Festival of the Iranian Academy of Medical Sciences

. He extended his congratulations to the university’s faculty members on this accomplishment. He stated that the Scientific Festival of the Iranian Academy of Medical Sciences of the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in the presence of Dr. Seyed Alireza Marandi, President of the Academy, along with a number of permanent members of the Academy, distinguished professors, and leading experts in the national health sector at the Ghadir Hall of the Academy.Dr. Momtaz further explained that awards were presented across five categories: the Health Award (dedicated to socially impactful contributors to the health system), the Late Professor Dr. Noureddin Hadavi Award (including Best Researcher, Young Researcher, and Best Research Center), the Professor Dr. Fereydoun Azizi Award (aimed at recognizing outstanding scientists of the past decade in medical sciences), the Academy’s Best Research Project Award (selected from projects conducted within the Academy), and the Best Persian Article Award (selected from Iranian medical journals based on citation impact).In the Best Persian Article category, Dr. Nasibeh Zanjari and Dr. Ahmad Delbari, along with their co-authors, were awarded second place for their article entitled Foresight of Challenges and Drivers of Population Ageing in Iran: A Scenario Analysis Approach, published in Salmand: Iranian Journal of Ageing in 2024 (1403). They received a certificate of honor and a commemorative plaque in recognition of their achievement. Dr. Momtaz added that, in this scientific event, articles and research projects were evaluated based on internationally recognized indicators and criteria, and were peer-reviewed by distinguished national and international experts. The selected works were subsequently honored with the Academy’s scientific awards. He also elaborated on the selection process for the Best Persian Article Award, noting that formal invitations were sent to editors of Persian-language medical journals across the country, requesting them to nominate two top articles from their journals published in 1403 based on a structured evaluation checklist. The nominated articles were then reviewed by a scientific committee and subjected to peer review. Final selection was made through consensus among committee members based on reviewers’ evaluations. Dr. Momtaz expressed his hope that the university community will continue to achieve greater scientific excellence and visibility in national and international arenas.
